The WMBA really depends on parents and volunteers to provide coaching for all levels and teams. We are very supportive of new coaches and offer training and clinics to our coaches at no cost wherever we can. If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching please let your division director or your child's existing coach know... we depend on you and would love to have you join our coaching staff!
WMBA encourages anybody that coaches for our association to at least obtain their "Initiation Coach" certification. This will give you all the basic tools for coaching at the lower levels.
So how do you get started?:
Fill out the WMBA Coaches Application Form that can be found here.
Return the filled out forms to the division_director in which you plan on coaching or contact your child's existing coach.

REGIONAL (3 modules @ $50 each) - Sat, Sun, March 13-14, 2010

INITIATION Certification
STEP 1 - Register with NCCP and complete the online module
All coach training by Baseball Canada is now started through an online module at nccp.baseball.ca. Click on Register to get started. It is an interactive self-directed training tool that you complete at your own pace and convenience. It costs $37.45 (including taxes) and gives you access to online video drills, materials, practice plans, and skill development tools in an easy to follow format. You continue to have access to the site after completing the online portion of the entry course. The focus of this module is on the "What to Coach?" side of coaching.
STEP 2 - Attend a Coach Clinic in our area.
Once you have completed your online component you must obtain your INITIATION certification. An INITIATION module will be offered at the Okanagan clinic in Penticton on the Friday night, March 12, 2010. Once you have completed this module, you will have your INITIATION, "Trained" status. You can then attend the clinic on Saturday and Sunday (Mar 13-14) to obtain your REGIONAL certification.
REGIONAL Certification
Coaches who already have their INITIATION certification can attend the Okanagan Super Clinic on Saturday and Sunday and complete the 3 modules required for REGIONAL certification. You do not have to attend the Friday Initiation Session if you have obtained INITIATION status in a previous year. Once you have completed the 3 modules you will have REGIONAL Coach "Trained" Status. You will need to complete the MED (Making Ethical Decisions) module online after the Super Clinic in order to obtain your REGIONAL "Certified" Status.
